The Orientation of a human being toward existence.
Human beings do not occupy fixed personalities. They continuously settle into stable orientations toward existence.
Every person enters the social fabric with three simultaneous orientations.
They decide how much of themselves to reveal.
They decide what they expect from others.
They decide how much of themselves they are willing to risk.
Sincerity to Phoniness measures the degree to which one's presentation originates from the self rather than performance.
Sweetness to Bitterness measures whether one's emotional disposition approaches the world with generosity or resentment.
Chalance to Non-chalance measures existential investment: the willingness to care, to commit, and to be affected.
Every individual occupies a unique position within this three-dimensional field. ‘Personality’ or Orientation is not a type but a moving coordinate.
A coordinate does not describe ‘who someone is.’
It describes the equilibrium they currently occupy.
Equilibrium is maintained by feedback.
Imagine: someone repeatedly experiencing rejection.
That doesn't simply increase bitterness.
It also changes sincerity.
It changes chalance.
The dimensions are not independent.
Every movement bends the others.
